homegoods give away

Despite the fact that I haven't won any of the blog giveaways that I've entered- I can't help but try. :)
A new to me blog that I've fallen in love with, the inspired room, is having a give away for a $200 gift card to home goods (at TJ Maxx).
Know which room I think could use a lift? Our basement/ tv room... that's which one....

all hand me down furniture, which we are very grateful for... he side tables do need lamps now due to a re-do in the living room upstairs where I used what I had to make the rom look different, and while we do love our Steelers, I'm sure we could find a nicer throw for this space. :)
oh, and check out that artwork....

It is an original piece.... by college students at a retreat that my husband and his roommate led when they were in college.....
I think we may have outgrown it's.... uniqueness....

another corner of this room houses some other unique art...

you need a closer look you say?

I mean, really, who doesn't love Moscow (I've never been there, so I don't know....), but do we really need to display it so prominently? Erik had a great time there as a child and so this is a treasured piece for him... but I'd rather it go... somewhere else... in the closet perhaps? (Sorry Erik... I'd never really do that because I know how much it means to you.... by closet, really I meant computer room... really I did...).

We also have these curtains over the sliding glass door- which I think are great... but the hardware for them could use an update. I'm thinking something with those rings and clips that are so popular these days...

Our ceiling is low and our curtains needed to be hung high- no room for the finials that were included with the current hardware. :(

Continue around the room and you'll find yourself at our entertainment center:

While I don't have a HUGE beef with this part of the room, I've always been dreaming of a look more like this one, I don't think the $200 would cover it, nor do we have enough space currently. I think I could work with what I have here- I need to be creative with some other sort of baby proofing, and get rid of the speaker stands that are for the speakers we no longer have...
the one thing that would need to be purchased for this section of basement? a window treatment!! I mean- VERTICAL BLINDS still? are we living in the 70's or 80's or something???

if there were any money leftover, I'd splurge for a rug to cover up the plain ole carpet and add some warmth for the winter and fall...

I even know I'd be willing to paint the walls if I were to win... and do some re-hab on the wood pieces in the room.

so PLEASE PLEASE pick me- I'll be sending those starbucks gift cards to your house ASAP. :)

ps- I've never realized how sad this room looks as a whole until now... I really need to win now so I can get to work on it!!

Wandering Waif Collection GIVEAWAY !!!!!!!

Wandering Waif Collection GIVEAWAY !!!!!!!

How cute would this little outfit look on Sophia next year at Fort Days?

Too bad I don't ever win things.... except that one time when I was 4 and we were at an Easter egg hunt. They were raffeling off 2 stuffed animals and I told my parents "I'm going to pick that one". They tried to explain to me that I'd have to win first, and that it wasn't likley- but I was certain I'd be taking the pink bunny home with me... and I did- so maybe I should apply the same strategy here...

This outfit IS GOING TO look so cute on Sophia next year... :)

The race is ON

Itty Bitty Baby Dress, originally uploaded by madebyrae.

So, from sew mamma sew I found this FREE pattern from Made by Rae for a small baby dress. I showed the pattern to my mom, and now we're in a race to see who can finish first. I may win since I've been excited about making something, ANYTHING for some time now- then again, she is a more seasoned seamstress, who has actually MADE clothing before... and I'm planning on trying to make it reversable. Hey- if you have to sew a lining as well, it may as well serve some purose other than to just be comfortable... :)

clearing out the old

purses, originally uploaded by SIMPLY.MADE.

to my dear friends, let me know if there's a purse you've got your eye on. I've decided that there's no point in keeping cute purses that I won't get to use because they won't hold a dipaer, wipes, a sippy cup and a snack... especially when there's to be double the diapers soon. First come first serve kind of deal- e-mail me or leave a comment to let me know if there's one you want.

ETA: also up for grabs will be my white purse with pink polka dots and light brown straps, and no, the coffe spill is no longer visable.
