This is what I've been working on... thus far I think the most difficult part was shopping for the fabric with my (almost) 2 year old in tow. There were way too many cool things in the fabric shop for him to look at. All that's left is making and sewing on the binding... can't loose my sewing drive now!! Back to work I go!

it's a muffin kind of morning
My little helper was more than happy to mix and eat batter. No worries- no raw eggs in this recipe, just spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin. (bake at 350 for 18 or so minutes)

Christmas is near!
With Turkey day just ahead of us, it's time to start thinking Christmas gifts!
This serving platter was 'simply made' by using the age old painted hands reindeer with finger print eyes and nose... I used pottery paint found at my local Michael's, painted hands and feet and added letters with the pottery paint pen. Following the directions on the bottle, I let the design sit over night (ok... a bit longer, just to be safe), and then baked at 300 degrees for 35 minutes. It's supposed to be dishwasher safe even...
I think a similar idea of using one hand for a turkey (where the thumb is the turkey's head and the other fingers are the feathers) would be an AWESOME idea for a craft for seasonal plates for your kids, or for the whole family.

Lost Boy Found
I don't think I've ever been so truly frightened in my life!
I'm watching a friends child today, he and Matthew were having a great time playing...I could tell that W and Matthew were getting tired…. So I gave W a book and some toys and a coloring page and told him that I was going to rock Matthew to sleep and that I'd come back out when Matthew fell asleep, we took a potty break… went to rock Matthew to sleep, not hearing much noise thinking "it worked, W is asleep too!" I expected to come out and see W asleep in his book on the computer room floor, right where I left him… but… he wasn't there.
A glance into the living room and the kitchen… no W… Matthew's room? My room??? No… the bathroom?!?! No! I start to panic… where has he gone? I did have him this morning, Didn't I?!? Maybe he went to the basement?? No… in a closet? Under the bed?!?! No signs of him outside either. In a panic, I call Erik "I've lost W!!" I say, almost in tears... And as I walk around to pace in the living room, there is W, peacefully sleeping behind the chair, by the window.

jumping right in
guess I should start with a bit of an introduction? It's only proper.
hi. I'm Leslie, a stay at home mom to one. Sometimes a 'crafter', sometimes a bit of a photographer, always trying to be creative in things I do, make and my outlook on things. I should mention that I'm a bit of a procrastinator too- always looking for something "better" to do than say... clean the bathroom. Hopefully through this blog, knowing that there are people checking in on me, I'll get more done and have less lazy days- I'll need SOMETHING exciting to talk about... :)
Yesterday was my husband's birthday and we celebrated last night by going to The Melting Pot. It was a great night with a super dinner. We ordered the 'grand night out'- a meal that included a cheese fondue appetizer, a salad, a dinner plate of raw meats that you cook yourself at the table in your fondue pot (which kind of freaked me out) and a DELICIOUS fondue desert- we got to try the white chocolate with amaretto and the turtle chocolate fondue- super good stuff, a great place to go for a special occasion.
